Here at Harlequin Marquees we get all kinds of different theme requests from clients and, no matter how diverse they may be, we always do our best to oblige – but it is also important to inform when new trends are coming into fashion so that you can make the best decision for your special event.
More recently we have been receiving requests for a more relaxed atmosphere in wedding venues and one of the most popular is a Moroccan based theme. A trend on the bridal catwalk for the last couple of years, marquees lend themselves uniquely to the Moroccan vibe with the tented, outdoor/indoor mood and ambient lighting. Both ceilings and walls can be draped in varying rich shades of purple, red and gold and cushions and rugs in similar hues spread across the floor create a relaxed and informal seating for guests (Ultra-violet is the 2018 Pantone Colour of the Year and is often used by bridal theme designers and wedding planners as a basis for current collections so fits this theme well). Glitzy embellishments and metallic accessories complete the look and perfectly complement any dress, whether minimal, whimsical or romantic.
Another popular wish is for a rustic or vintage style wedding theme. This trend has been around for a few years now but doesn’t look like it is going anywhere soon! Again, this is a theme which lends itself beautifully to a marquee setting where guests can stay inside or sit outdoors surrounded by greenery, bunting, mix and match crockery and jugs of elderflower champagne and rose lemonade. Any colour palette complements the vintage/ shabby chic motif but favourites this year are rose gold, blush pink, purple, burgundy and varying shade of blue. These colours contrasted with white, champagne or gold will make your décor as well as your bridal party stand out against the backdrop of any garden, field or grand estate.
New to this year and set to be big in 2019 is a more industrial themed trend. This design is minimalist and leans towards geometric décor with lots of metallic accessories as well as the fashion of translucent, Perspex or acrylic trims. Copper, rose gold and silver crockery, candlesticks and hanging pendants can, however, be paired and softened with fairy lights, greenery and lace edged table coverings to create a more mixed industrial and vintage atmosphere. It is predicted that darker, more textured flowers will be popular whether as décor or in bouquets and these will contrast nicely with the lighter metallic hues.
Whatever idea you have or trend you wish to follow, we have both the marquee and the event know how to put together your perfect wedding.
